Early Day Motion 743

Modern Service Framework for neurological conditions

Tabled 2 September 2026 by Shockat Adam

That this House recognises that neurological conditions affect 1 in 6 people in the UK, are the leading cause of disability globally and cost the UK economy an estimated £96 billion every year; further recognises with regret that people with neurological conditions across the country face long waits for specialist care, significant variation in access to services, and avoidable hospital admissions caused by a lack of timely support; notes with concern the absence of neurological conditions in the Government’s first and second waves of Modern Service Frameworks; welcomes the report from the MS Society and Neurological Alliance entitled Neurological conditions: the case for a modern service framework that calls for the strategic focus necessary to transform neurological care; calls on the Government to commit to publishing a Modern Service Framework for Neurological Conditions to ensure better care, support and outcomes for patients; and further calls on the Government to adopt the ambitious, measurable and achievable goal of reducing avoidable emergency admissions for people with neurological conditions by 30% by 2035.
