50th anniversary of Number 22 Counselling Charity

That this House congratulates Number 22 Counselling Charity on reaching its 50th anniversary of service to the communities of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and Slough since its founding in 1976; recognises the charity's role in providing free and confidential counselling to young people aged 25 and under and low-cost counselling to adults across Windsor, Maidenhead and Slough; pays tribute to the volunteer counsellors who give their time to support individuals experiencing mental and emotional distress in the local area; notes the charity's journey from a council-run service to an independent registered charity, and the breadth of its work including community counselling, the Hope@22 suicide prevention project supporting adults experiencing suicidal thoughts, and accredited counsellor training courses that help develop the next generation of practitioners; acknowledges the importance of accessible, community-based mental health support at a time when demand for such services continues to grow; thanks the trustees, staff, volunteers, fundraisers and supporters whose dedication has sustained the charity over five decades; and wishes Number 22 every success in continuing its work to ensure that people in distress across Berkshire feel valued, heard and supported for many years to come.
