Early Day Motion 443

Antisemitic hostility

Tabled 24 June 2026 by Carla Lockhart

That this House notes that the slogan From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free refers to the territory between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea, encompassing the entirety of the State of Israel; further notes that the slogan therefore calls for the obliteration of Israel as a sovereign Jewish state and the denial of the Jewish people’s right to national self-determination; recognises that many Jewish people regard the slogan as threatening, antisemitic and directed against their national homeland; condemns attempts to minimise or excuse the meaning and impact of the slogan; believes that use of the slogan should ordinarily be treated as evidence of antisemitic hostility and taken into account by police and prosecutors when assessing hate crime, harassment, intimidation and public order offences; and calls on the Government to issue clear guidance accordingly.
