That this House congratulates parkrun on the occasion of the one millionth parkrun event taking place globally; recognises the extraordinary impact that parkrun has had since its founding in 2004, growing from a small community run in Bushy Park to a worldwide movement spanning multiple countries; notes that the first ever parkrun saw 18 people take part, and this has grown to 12 million registrations and more than 2,800 events in 23 countries; acknowledges the contribution of the millions of participants, volunteers, organisers, and supporters who have made parkrun a cornerstone of community life; commends parkrun’s commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and the promotion of physical and mental wellbeing for people of all ages and abilities; celebrates the vital role that volunteers play in sustaining weekly events and building strong local communities; highlights the importance of free, regular, outdoor exercise in improving public health outcomes; and calls on the Government to continue supporting initiatives like parkrun that encourage grassroots sport, active lifestyles, and community engagement across the United Kingdom.
