Tabled 3 June 2026 by James McMurdock
That this House expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Henry Nowak following his tragic death; notes with concern the continued existence of exemptions in legislation permitting the carrying of certain ceremonial or religious knives in public; believes that public safety must take precedence over cultural or religious exemptions where deadly weapons are concerned; further believes that the law should apply equally to all individuals regardless of background or faith; calls on the Government to review and repeal exemptions permitting the carrying of ceremonial knives in public places; and further calls on the Government to strengthen efforts to remove dangerous weapons from Britain’s streets and prevent further tragic loss of life.
