Tabled 2 June 2026 by John McDonnell
That this House expresses its grave concern at the arrest and detention of leading members of the Awami Action Committee Gilgit-Baltistan, including chairman Ehsan Ali, Nusrat Hussain, Mehboob Wali, Nafees Advocate and Mehar Ali , who have been been groundlessly charged under anti-terror laws and accused of inciting violence, charges that have been condemned as politically motivated; notes that Ehsan Ali is in critically poor health; and calls on the UK Government to raise with the Pakistani Administration its concerns at this abuse of human rights, which has been chartered by several international humanitarian bodies, and demand the release of Ehsan Ali and his fellow Awami Action Committee members.
