That this House congratulates the businesses behind the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, from landscapers to garden designers, growers to manufacturers; recognises that Environmental Horticulture contributes £38 billion to UK GDP every year and supports more than 722,000 good green jobs; notes that green infrastructure, our gardens, parks, green spaces, and street trees, deliver huge climate benefits, helping to cool our cities, reduce flood risk, remove air pollutants as well as providing social spaces for communities and boosting the nation’s health and wellbeing, while noting the ongoing cost challenges facing the many small, family-owned businesses that make the show such a success; and calls on the Government to recognise the many benefits that the sector can deliver across multiple departmental policy areas while reducing regulatory and cost pressures on the sector.
