That this House welcomes the announcement that the Government will reassess the provision of in-person banking services in their Access to Banking Services Review; notes that the current cash access assessment criteria fail to take account of people's banking needs, particularly for residents of rural market towns such as Wem and Ellesmere, where all remaining bank branches have closed; recognises that a lack of banking services is stifling business in many rural areas; and urges an expansion of the criteria for banking hubs, and urgent action to be taken on any recommendations to ensure that rural communities and businesses are not left behind by a lack of essential banking services.
