That this House congratulates Elizabeth Ling, aged eight, of Cirencester, for her initiative in writing to her Member of Parliament to raise concerns about the removal of a basket swing at Thistledown Park that had enabled children of different ages and abilities to play together; notes that Elizabeth's letter, supported by a petition and connected to her Brownie badge work on speaking out, demonstrated the kind of civic engagement that communities depend on; welcomes the positive response from Cirencester Town Council, which has budgeted for, purchased, and ordered a replacement bird's nest swing designed to be more robust and durable while retaining its inclusive and collaborative character; believes that accessible, shared play spaces are vital to children's physical and social development; and calls on councils across the country to take seriously the voices of young people when making decisions about local public spaces.
