Peregrine falcons in Woking

Tabled 11 June 2026 by Mr Will Forster

That this House congratulates the Surrey Bird Club and the Woking Peregrine Project on the recent success of the peregrine falcons nesting at Export House in Woking; notes that the installation of a nest box in 2016 has supported the return of these remarkable birds of prey to the town centre; further notes that the resident pair have laid an exceptional clutch of five eggs in 2026, exceeding the usual three to four eggs and marking a significant milestone for the project; recognises the vital role of volunteers and conservationists in monitoring and protecting the birds, including through ringing chicks to track their movements; celebrates the recovery of the Peregrine Falcon in the United Kingdom following historic declines in the 20th century; acknowledges the importance of urban habitats such as tall buildings in supporting wildlife; and commends all those involved for promoting biodiversity and inspiring the local community in Woking and across the UK.
