Mental Health Awareness Week

Tabled 13 May 2026 by Dr Danny Chambers

That this House marks World Mental Health Awareness Week which promotes awareness of mental health issues and promotes positive mental wellbeing globally; notes that while many people may feel more at ease with speaking on their mental health there remains much to do before mental health is treated with the same gravity as physical health; expresses concern that, in 2026, Britain is facing increasing waiting lists for mental health diagnoses for both children and adults as well as a decreased share in funding for mental health services; and emphasises the importance of community-based, preventative care and early-intervention to ensure that everyone can access high-quality care when in need.
