Staffordshire Day 2026

That this House marks Staffordshire Day 2026 with much excitement; acknowledges the wonderful, ancient and proud county of Staffordshire from Tamworth to Newcastle-under-Lyme, Lichfield to Stoke-on-Trent and onto the Staffordshire Moorlands, Stafford to Burton and Stone to Cannock; notes that Staffordshire Day takes place annually on 1 May with the first official Staffordshire Day celebrations having taken place in 2016, the year the county turned 1,000 years old; recognises that 1 May was chosen as the date through a public poll as it is the anniversary of Josiah Wedgwood setting up his pottery company in 1759; further notes that 2026 sees the 10th Staffordshire Day and with it a day of celebrations in the House of Commons focused on showcasing some of Staffordshire excellent businesses alongside organisations that represent the county’s innovation, creativity and economic strengths; welcomes St George’s Park, Trentham Estate, Valentine Clays, Titanic Brewery, 1882Ltd, Woolcool, Newcastle & Stafford Colleges Group, GE Vernova, Lucideon Ltd, Chocolate Treasures, Chillington Hall/Hockerhill PlayBarn, the New Vic Theatre, Keele University, TMT First, The Tawny Hotel, Ornua Foods, The Apiarist, Wyldes Sweet Shop, Premier Foods, Staffordshire Signal and JCB to Parliament; also notes that these businesses were selected by those who live, learn and work across Staffordshire’s districts and boroughs following a county-wide ballot; thanks the organisers We are Staffordshire for all they do to champion and represent England’s best county; and wishes one and all a very Happy Staffordshire Day 2026.
