Tabled 21 April 2026 by Katrina Murray

That this House congratulates Strathcarron Hospice on the occasion of its 45th anniversary, having first opened its doors on 21 April 1981 to provide compassionate care to people living with, and dying from, incurable illness; recognises that the hospice has remained true to its founding vision over 45 years, delivering the highest standard of palliative and end-of-life care while adapting to meet increasingly complex needs; notes that over more than 16,000 days the hospice has supported thousands of individuals and their families, treating each person with dignity, compassion and respect; acknowledges the dedication of staff, volunteers and supporters whose commitment has sustained this vital service; further acknowledges the continued support of the local community across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth in maintaining and strengthening the hospice’s work; welcomes the commemorative community weaving initiative marking the anniversary, which invites individuals, families, community groups and organisations to contribute threads representing personal stories, memories and connections to the hospice; recognises that this collective artwork reflects the compassion, connection and shared support that have defined Strathcarron Hospice across generations; further notes the opportunity for members of the public to engage with the hospice, learn more about its services and experience its welcoming environment; and commends Strathcarron Hospice for its outstanding contribution to the community over four and a half decades.
