Oban Mountain Rescue 25th anniversary

That this House congratulates and sends its sincere thanks to the volunteers, both past and present, of Oban Mountain Rescue as they celebrate their 25th anniversary; notes that Oban Mountain Rescue cover a vast, varied and challenging landscape spreading across some of the most remote areas of Argyll, the Inner Hebrides and Scotland’s western highlands; recognises that Oban Mountain Rescue, currently led by Gordon Binnie, is made up of a team of highly trained volunteers including hillwalkers, climbers and medical professionals, all of who give up their free time to provide immediate and often lifesaving assistance to those lost, injured, or stranded on Scotland’s mountains, twenty fours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year; acknowledges that over their quarter of a century of service to the local community, Oban Mountain Rescue have been called out on more than 500 occasions; further recognises that Oban Mountain Rescue also play a vital role in accident prevention through education, advice and in providing important information to the local community and by assisting organisations to plan and prepare effectively before venturing into the mountains; and wishes Oban Mountain Rescue every success in the future.
