Tabled 13 April 2026 by Liz Saville Roberts
That this House celebrates the 70th anniversary of Noddfa Community Centre in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, first opened as a chapel by Sister Emily Roberts to serve the people of Ysgubor Goch; recognises the centre’s longstanding contribution to the well-being and social cohesion of the Peblig community since its establishment in 1956; further recognises that throughout the 1960s and 1970s Noddfa hosted pioneering youth clubs, adult learning classes and one of the earliest Welsh medium playgroups in the town, becoming a cornerstone of grassroots cultural activity during a time of rapid social change; pays tribute to the generations of volunteers, staff and local residents whose dedication has ensured that Noddfa remains a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all ages, offering religious comfort, practical advice and a listening ear; acknowledges the centre’s vital role in providing activities, support services, educational programmes and a safe gathering place for local groups; commends its ongoing work to promote Welsh language and culture, strengthen community resilience and reduce social isolation and poverty; and wishes Noddfa Community Centre every success for the decades ahead as it continues to serve the people of Caernarfon.
