This House calls on Staffordshire County Council to protect Baldies Field in Newcastle-under-Lyme and to properly address the serious concerns raised by local residents in Cross Heath and Wolstanton about the future of this much loved green space; notes that Baldies Field, the green space adjacent to Hoon Avenue and Milehouse Lane, has been used by local people from across Newcastle-under-Lyme for generations and is valued by residents as an accessible and open space used for walking, recreation and wellbeing; recognises that the future of Baldies Field has generated significant concern across the community; further notes that residents have raised longstanding issues relating to traffic congestion in the surrounding area and have questioned how any, possible, additional development could be accommodated safely within an already pressured road network; also notes the concerns about flooding and drainage in the area, with residents highlighting existing problems following heavy rainfall; understands local people are not against much needed homes but want to make sure the much needed homes are built in the right place; and further calls on Staffordshire County Council to listen carefully to the concerns that have been raised by local people including the hon. Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme and to protect Baldies Field for generations to come.
