Early Day Motion 3125

Potholes in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Tabled 13 April 2026 by Adam Jogee

This House demands Staffordshire County Council get on with filling the many, many potholes on roads in Newcastle-under-Lyme and across the ancient county of Staffordshire; notes that local people right across Newcastle-under-Lyme are tired of having to navigate dangerous roads as they go about their business, go to work or take their families to school or hospital appointments; acknowledges that people are tired of words and empty promises and simply want their roads made safe and secure; understands the impact that roads full of potholes can have on local businesses who rely on using transport for their trade, on the family budget as insurance premiums are pushed up due to damage caused by potholes, and on tourism and visitor numbers to the jewel in the Staffordshire crown that is Newcastle-under-Lyme; encourages those with concerns about the state of the roads in Newcastle-under-Lyme to get in touch with the office of the hon. Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme and those concerns will be put directly to the leadership of Staffordshire County Council demanding action; and finally further notes the increased financial support for our roads from the Government to Staffordshire County Council and that there are no excuses for failure and Staffordshire County Council must act to make the roads in Newcastle-under-Lyme safe and it must act now.
