Early Day Motion 3002

Display of pricing for alcoholic drinks

Tabled 19 March 2026 by Peter Lamb

That this House notes the importance of price transparency for consumers within the hospitality sector; further notes that although consumer protection law requires pricing information to be available, the consistency and visibility of such information varies significantly between licensed premises; is concerned that with a pint in many areas now costing between £6 and £8.50, transparency is becoming an increasingly pressing issue for consumers; believes that clearer and more prominently displayed pricing would help customers compare pubs more effectively, avoid unwelcome surprises when paying, and bring pubs into line with other hospitality businesses where price lists are routinely visible; and calls on the Government to require all pubs and bars to display the prices of drinks and other products in a position clearly visible from where customers place orders.
