Wilf Peddle’s 1964 Morris Minor Van at The Somerset Rural Life Museum

Tabled 16 March 2026 by Sarah Dyke

That this House recognises the contribution of the late Wilf Peddle, who dedicated himself to delivering eggs to households across Glastonbury from 1972 until his passing in 2024; notes that his 1964 Morris Minor van, which served as a familiar sight in the town for more than half a century, is now on display at the Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury; commends the exhibition as a tribute, celebrating the life and work of a local tradesman who committed himself to supporting local egg producers whilst serving his community through the distribution of eggs; further recognises the nutritional value of eggs as an affordable source of protein and essential vitamins and minerals; understands the importance of local produce being sold to local people, promoting rural economic growth and supporting local businesses, reduces food miles and gives people the opportunity to buy fresh locally produced food; and calls on the House to join in celebrating the life of Wilf Peddle and the contribution he made to the people of Glastonbury.
