Endometriosis Awareness Month 2026

Tabled 12 March 2026 by Josh Babarinde

That this House recognises March 2026 as Endometriosis Awareness Month; notes that around 1 in 10 women are affected by endometriosis, yet diagnosis times remain prolonged, with many patients waiting 3–9 years before receiving a confirmed diagnosis; acknowledges that endometriosis can have a profound impact on physical and mental health, education, work, and quality of life; praises the tireless work of healthcare professionals, researchers, and charities such as Endometriosis UK in supporting patients, raising awareness, and improving care; further recognises the updated NICE guidelines on endometriosis which provide clearer recommendations for timely referral, diagnosis, and access to new medical treatments including Relugolix and Linzagolix; further notes that despite Government commitments in the Women’s Health Strategy, 2022, and recent parliamentary statements, waiting times for diagnosis and specialist care have increased in some areas since 2022; calls on the Government to ensure full implementation of NICE guidance, to reduce diagnosis delays, improve patient access to effective treatment, expand education for healthcare professionals, and provide additional support for patients experiencing chronic pain; and urges the Government to take all necessary steps to address the systemic inequities in care, including disparities affecting ethnic minority patients and those in deprived areas.
