Early Day Motion 2940

Airport drop-off charges

Tabled 11 March 2026 by Olly Glover

That this House notes the recent wave of above-inflation increases in airport drop-off charges across the country; is concerned that this is another hidden cost for passengers already facing record travel costs; further notes that many passengers have little option but to absorb these costs; also notes the disproportionate impact these rises have on disabled passengers and those in rural areas who have little option than to travel to airports via car due to insufficient public transport options; draws comparison to major airports across Europe which do not have airport drop-off fees; questions whether these rises will genuinely help aviation become more sustainable; and calls on the Government and airports to take meaningful action to tackle the hidden costs of flying for passengers and improve public transport links to and from airports to reduce the environmental impact of flying for the long-term.
