Early Day Motion 2881

Curlew populations

Tabled 2 March 2026 by Cameron Thomas

That this House notes with concern the sharp decline in Curlew populations, with the UK’s breeding curlew population having halved in the last 25 years; expresses particular alarm at the decline of Curlew populations in the South of England, including Tewkesbury and the surrounding area; recognises the importance of wetland and marshland environments to Curlews in the South of England, and the decline of these habitats due to human disturbance and agricultural activities; further recognises the importance of UK habitats for the global Curlew population; and calls on the Government to do more to protect Curlews and their habitats.
