That this House notes with great significance the 500th anniversary of the publication of William Tyndale’s English translation of the New Testament; recognises Tyndale’s enduring contribution to the English language, religious liberty and public access to the Scriptures; acknowledges the profound impact of the Tyndale Bible on the development of Protestant theology, worship and church life; celebrates the role of the Bible in shaping the spiritual, cultural and moral heritage of the United Kingdom; pays tribute to Tyndale’s courage, scholarship and faith in the face of persecution; and calls on churches, schools, cultural institutions and communities across the country to mark this historic milestone with appropriate commemorations and educational activities.
