Early Day Motion 2726

Signing of the Hamburg Declaration

Tabled 2 February 2026 by Pippa Heylings

That this House marks the signing of the Hamburg Declaration, a clean energy pact with Germany, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands, which offers the opportunity for the development of the North Sea as a regional, shared, clean energy hub, and an opportunity to addressing energy affordability; recognises that the UK must urgently build a closer relationship with our European allies to tackle climate change, bring down bills and reduce our dependency on volatile fossil fuels; highlights the importance of British energy resilience, security, and coordination with European allies given the political volatility and the weaponisation of fossil fuels by foreign leaders; acknowledges the importance of developing and investing in innovative green technology and infrastructure, such as Offshore Hybrid Assets and interconnectors; and finally calls on the Government to capitalise on opportunities to develop and progress our clean energy infrastructure alongside our European allies.
