Tabled 22 January 2026 by Jim Allister

That this House marks the 45th anniversary of the murders of Sir Norman Stronge and Major James Stronge whilst watching television at their home at Tynan Abbey on 21 January 1981; notes Sir Norman’s distinguished service at the Somme in the First World War, his contribution during the Second World War, and his long tenure as the hon. Member for Mid Armagh and Speaker of the Northern Ireland House of Commons from 1945 to 1969; further notes Major James Stronge’s service in the Grenadier Guards and his role in the Northern Ireland Parliament and Assembly; recognises the profound loss to their family and community; and reaffirms this House’s unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, epitomised by the Provisional IRA’s actions at Tynan Abbey.
