That this House welcomes the campaign to ensure the life and career of Billy Bremner, who was born in Stirling, grew up in Raploch and at the age of 16 in 1959 signed for Leeds United where he went on to become the cornerstone of Don Revie's team in the most successful period in the club's history, making his home in Halton in East Leeds, whilst making over 50 appearances for Scotland, before signing for Hull City in 1976 and then moving to Doncaster Rovers, is properly recognised and celebrated; notes the status of the wonderful statue of Billy Bremner by Leeds-born sculptor Frances Segelman as such a key focal point at Leeds United's Elland Road stadium; further welcomes the blue plaque unveiled by fellow Leeds United and Scotland footballing great Eddie Gray marking the site of Billy Bremner's childhood home on the Raploch estate; supports and applauds the ongoing fundraising efforts for a Billy Bremner statue in Raploch by Scottish sculptor Kenny Hunter, together with the work on cultural exchanges and educational initiatives between Raploch and Leeds using the life, qualities and career of Billy Bremner as their theme; congratulates Leeds United fans, Leeds United Supporters Groups and the Scottish Football Supporters Association, Raploch Community Council, University of Stirling, Stirling Community Enterprise, Tartan Army Magazine and Stirling Council for their team work in this regard; and looks forward to the fundraising target being reached and the statue being unveiled.
