150th anniversary of Laurelvale Cricket Club

That this House congratulates Laurelvale Cricket Club on the occasion of its 150th anniversary; notes that the club was founded in 1875 by the Sinton family for workers at the linen mill in the village and played its first competitive match in September of that year; recognises the integral role the club has played in Laurelvale and the wider local community over the past century and a half; welcomes the range of events planned to mark this significant milestone, including the publication of the commemorative book 150 Years of Laurelvale CC, a gala anniversary dinner and an exhibition match against an NCU President’s XI; commends the club’s thriving youth section and its contribution to the development of cricket locally; further welcomes the granting of planning permission for ambitious redevelopment plans for the club’s facilities; and wishes the club’s First XI every success in the forthcoming season following their promotion to the Northern Cricket Union Premier League.
