NEU dispute at Great Ormond Street Hospital and UCLH
Tabled 15 December 2025 by John McDonnell
That this House expresses its deep concern at the reports of bullying of staff, victimisation of trade unionists and unacceptable management practices at Great Ormond Street Hospital and UCLH in relation to the hospitals' teaching staff, which have resulted in the suspension of four members of the National Education Union, high levels of stress and mental health concerns amongst staff and the resignation of long standing teachers, who have dedicated years of their life to the teaching vulnerable children; notes that this has also resulted in unprecedented reports of many children no longer receiving full time education, waiting lists occurring and safeguarding concerns; and calls upon the hospital's Governors and management to engage in constructive negotiations with the NEU to resolve this dispute, reinstating the suspended staff and recreating a culture of respect for the professionalism of the teaching staff, who have been forced to take strike action to highlight their justifiable grievances.
