That this House congratulates the Cary Repair Café on having won the BBC’s Make a Difference Green Award for Somerset in recognition of the work of their committed team of over twenty volunteers to promote reuse and sustainability across the county; notes that Cary Repair Café in October surpassed a significant milestone, with the repair of their 500th appliance; commends the cafe’s work in having collectively prevented over one tonne of materials being either incinerated or diverted to landfill; understands that Cary Repair Café is open on the fourth Saturday of every month in the Cary Methodist Church Hall from 10-12pm with all members of the public being welcome; expresses thanks to Stephen Rhymer and his team of dedicated volunteers for their tireless work in supporting reuse during a cost of living and a climate crisis; and calls on the Government to accelerate the delivery of their Circular Economy Taskforce, having been delayed until 2026, to help maximise resource recovery, reuse, recycling and manufacturing.
