That this House congratulates Mia Wiseman of Loftus on her outstanding achievement in representing Great Britain at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo and her contribution to Great Britain’s silver medal in the Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay; recognises the remarkable dedication of Mia, who was born deaf, overcame significant barriers, and has trained from a young age with the support of her family, coach Barbara Wilkinson and the Loftus Dolphins Swimming Club; pays tribute to the people of East Cleveland and all those across the country who helped fundraise to enable her participation; celebrates the achievements of the entire Team DeaflympicsGB team, who collectively secured 12 medals and showcased British sporting excellence on the world stage; acknowledges the Deaflympics as one of the longest-running international multi-sport competitions and an essential platform for elite deaf athletes; and calls on the Government to ensure equitable and accessible sporting opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing young people so that talent like Mia’s can flourish in every community.
