Early Day Motion 2463

Royal Naval Association Torbay

Tabled 10 December 2025 by Steve Darling

That this House celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Torbay Branch of the Royal Naval Association, which was founded in 1945 as the Royal Navy Old Comrades Association and became the RNA in 1950 and recognises its proud contribution to the communities of Torquay and Paignton; notes that this anniversary has been marked by the planting of an oak sapling on Kings Drive, Torquay, as a living memorial honouring service and sacrifice and symbolising the steadfast spirit of the Royal Navy; further notes how especially fitting this is given that the official march of the Royal Navy is Heart of Oak; pays tribute to all current and former members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, WRNS, QARNNS, RNR, RMR, RFA, RNXS, Merchant Navy veterans holding the MNA badge and Commonwealth naval personnel as well as their families and friends who are welcomed by the Branch under its enduring motto Once Navy, always Navy; and expresses gratitude for the dedication, camaraderie and continued service of all those who have worn the uniform at sea or supported the naval community ashore.
