Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day on 20 November 2025
Tabled 19 November 2025 by Helen Maguire
That this House recognises Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day on 20 November 2025; notes that pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers in the United Kingdom, remaining the UK’s fifth biggest cancer killer and taking nearly 11,000 lives each year; further notes that only around 5% of patients survive ten years or more and that half of all patients die within three months of diagnosis and three-quarters within a year; acknowledges that eight in ten people are diagnosed too late for treatment and that these figures have remained largely unchanged for 50 years; also notes that pancreatic cancer causes approximately 6% of all cancer deaths while receiving only 3% of the national cancer research budget; and calls on the Government to increase research funding, support the development of early detection tests, and ensure timely access to essential treatments to improve survival rates and outcomes for all those affected by pancreatic cancer.
