Division 384 · 8 December 2025
Employment Rights Bill: Government motion not to insist on Commons Amendment 72C but to disagree with LA72D to LA72H and to propose Gov (a) and (b) in lieu of LA72D to LA72H
Government Bill
Work / Employment
What this vote was about
This vote formed part of the final "ping-pong" stage of the Employment Rights Bill and concerned trade union political funds. The disputed Lords amendments (72D to 72H) related to how members contribute to a union's political fund, an area the Bill changes by reinstating the pre-2016 arrangement under which new members are automatically included unless they choose to opt out. The Government moved not to insist on its earlier Commons amendment 72C, to disagree with the Lords amendments in lieu, and to propose its own amendments refining when an opt-out notice takes effect and requiring the Government to issue guidance for unions. MPs backed the Government's motion.

How many MPs voted in this division?
488 MPs have an imported recorded vote for this division. Source
What does did not vote mean on this division?
Did not vote means there is no imported Aye or No vote for that MP in this division. It does not by itself explain the reason. Source
